TROOP G NEWS RELEASE January 28, 2016 Head-On Crash Claims Life of Unrestrained Bossier Man Bossier Parish-On January 28, 2016, at 11:27 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a report of a two vehicle crash on US Highway 80 just east of Red Chute, that claimed the life of a Bossier man. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1999 Honda SUV driven by 37-year-old Wesley Wise of Bossier was traveling west on US 80 when for reasons still under investigation, it lost control, crossed the median, and collided head-on with an east bound 2012 GMC Truck driven by 21-year-old Jake Pennington of Haughton. Pennington was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and was not injured. Wise was not wearing his seat belt and sustained fatal injuries during the crash. Wise was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bossier Parish Coroner. Toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis, but impairment is not suspected to be a factor. This crash remains under investigation. Louisiana law requires motor vehicle occupants to be properly restrained in every seating position, day and night. Wearing a seatbelt significantly reduces the likelihood of being seriously injured or killed as the result of a crash and is the single most effective thing motorists can do to protect themselves.
