TROOP G NEWS RELEASE May 8, 2016 Crash Claims Life of Unrestrained Driver Bienville Parish-On May 7, 2016, at 7:59 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 153, just south of Louisiana Highway 507 that claimed the life of a Castor woman. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1987 Dodge Dakota driven by 28-year-old Kati Rogers of Castor was traveling north on LA 153 when, for reasons still under investigation, she lost control of her vehicle in a curve and exited the roadway, causing the vehicle to overturned multiple times before coming to a stop. Rogers was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected during the crash. Rogers sustained life threating injuries during the crash and was flown to University Health Shreveport, where she was later pronounced dead. Speed is suspected to be a factor in this crash. Impairment is unknown, but a toxicology sample was obtained from Rogers, and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. Louisiana law requires motor vehicle occupants to be properly restrained in every seating position, day and night. Wearing a seatbelt significantly reduces the likelihood of being seriously injured or killed as the result of a crash and is the single most effective thing motorists can do to protect themselves.
