Webster Parish Crash Claims the Life of a Haynesville Man

Webster Parish-On April 18, 2016 at 6:20 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a report of a one vehicle crash on LA Highway 159 about eight miles south of Minden that claimed the life of a Haynesville man.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by 36 -year-old Marcus Brown of Haynesville was traveling south on LA 159, when for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle failed to negotiate a left hand curve, exited the right side of the roadway, and struck a tree.

Brown was not restrained at the time of the crash and sustained life threatening injuries. Also during the investigation, it was discovered that Brown suffered from a sleep disorder and it is suspected that he was asleep when his vehicle left the roadway.

Impairment is not suspected in this crash, but toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers want to take this time to remind motorists that fatigued drivers and drivers experiencing unexpected medical problems are three times more likely to be involved in a crash. By taking preventative measures such as stopping for rest or seeking medical attention for an unexpected illness can drastically decrease your chances of being involved in a crash.
