TROOP G NEWS RELEASE September 6, 2015 Fiery Crash Claims The Life of a Sarepta Man Claiborne Parish-On September 6, 2015 at 12:02 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on US Highway 79, two miles north of Louisiana Highway 520 that claimed the life of a Sarepta man. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2013 Freightliner operated by 47-year-old Dennis Carpenter of Sarepta was traveling north on US HWY 79, when it lost control, exited the roadway, and crashed. Upon impact, the truck burst into flames and Carpenter didn’t survive the blaze. It remains unknown if impairment was a factor in this crash, but a toxicology sample was obtained from Carpenter and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
