TROOP G NEWS RELEASE October 5, 2015 Multi-Vehicle Crash Claims The Life of a Texas Man Claiborne Parish-On October 5, 2015 at 12:18 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a report of a two vehicle crash on US Highway 79 that claimed the life of a Texas man. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2013 International Tractor Trailer driven by 58-year-old Curtis Holly Jr. of Magnolia, AR, was traveling north on Louisiana Highway 9 when it failed to obey the stop sign at US Highway 79 and struck a south bound 2011 Corvette driven by 43-year-old Mario Ozuna Sr. of Penitas, TX. Ozuna was not restrained at the time of the crash and sustained fatal injuries. Curtis Holly and the Passenger of the corvette 21-year-old Mario Ozuna Jr. were restrained at the time of the crash and were not injured. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in this crash, but toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. Louisiana law requires motor vehicle occupants to be properly restrained in every seating position, day and night. Wearing a seatbelt significantly reduces the likelihood of being seriously injured or killed as the result of a crash and is the single most effective thing motorists can do to protect themselves.
