TROOP G NEWS RELEASE October 13, 2015 LSP to Assist First Responders In Bienville Parish Blaze Bienville Parish- A series of fiery woods fires that started this afternoon in Bienville Parish have claimed more than 1400 acres of land and threatened homes near Web Loftin Road in the Fryeburg Community. The Bienville Parish Fire Districts, Louisiana Department of Agriculture, Louisiana State Fire Marshalls Office, Bienville Parish Sheriff’s Office, and other emergency personnel are currently responding to grass and woods fires throughout Bienville Parish. The fires also threatened a portion of the Louisiana Southern Rail Road Track in the Liberty Hill Community, near LA 508, west of LA 155. Two of those fires have been extinguished, but one still burns near the track and a Southern Rail Road Train that was forced to stop due to the fires. That train is comprised of forty-seven cars, one of which is a tanker that contains hazardous materials. LSP Hazmat Technicians are currently on scene and are working with train personnel to move the train to the track’s intersection with Poole Road, approximately eight miles northwest of its current location. LSP Hazmat personnel want the train moved to avoid the tanker from becoming heated which might cause the material to become volatile. There have been no injuries associated with the train incident and no road closures or evacuations because of it are necessary at this time. LSP personnel are on scene providing support to the Bienville Parish Sheriff's Office and other emergency agencies. “We will continue to assist local agencies throughout the entirety of this event and do whatever deemed necessary to maintain public safety,” said Col Mike Edmonson. Troopers urge motorists to stay away from the affected area and if you have a well fair concern in or around the area, simply report that concern to authorities and let them check it for you.
