May 29, 2016
Bossier Parish Crash
Claims the Life of a Haughton Man

Bossier Parish-On May 28, 2016, at 11:13 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a report of a single vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on Louisiana Highway 157 at Bills Lane that claimed the life of a Haughton man.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2013 Nissan Rogue driven by 48-year-old Kim Dewberry of Doyline was traveling south on LA 157 when it struck 29-year-old Michael Morris Jr. of Haughton who was walking in the south bound travel lane near the white fog line.

Morris was wearing dark clothing and there was no light in the area where he was walking. Morris sustained fatal injuries during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bossier Parish Coroner.

Impairment is not suspected, but a toxicology sample was obtained, and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers urge citizens to be cautious around roadways when walking, especially at night. When visibility is low, the chances of being struck by a motor vehicle drastically increase. By taking simple precautions such as wearing reflective vests or clothing and walking with a warning light can decrease the chances of being hit by a motor vehicle.
