TROOP G NEWS RELEASE May 29, 2017 Severe Weather Causes Crash That Claimed the Life of a Mansfield Man On Sunday, May 28, 2017, at 5:35 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a one vehicle crash on Hudson Darby Road just east of US Highway 171 in DeSoto Parish that claimed the life of a Mansfield man. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2002 Ford F-150 operated by 52-year-old Collis Boyd of Gloster was traveling west on Hudson Darby Road during a severe thunderstorm, when it was struck by a falling tree. Boyd and his front seat passenger 59-year-old Glen Jones of Gloster sustained moderate injuries during the incident and were transported to University Health in Shreveport for treatment. The rear seat passenger 21-year-old Demontre Lewis of Mansfield sustained fatal injuries from the falling tree and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the DeSoto Parish Coroner. This tragic weather related event is one of many that have occurred across our state this year.
