TROOP G NEWS RELEASE April 20, 2017 DeSoto Parish Crash Claims the Life of A Grand Cane Man DeSoto Parish- On Thursday, April 20, 2017, at 6:39 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a two vehicle crash on US Highway 171 at Rives Road that claimed the life of a Grand Cane man. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2013 Dodge Challenger operated by 23-year-old Tarrius White of Grand Cane was entering the intersection of Rives Road and US 171 when he was struck by a south bound 2012 Harley-Davidson operated 48-year-old Christopher Sharpley of Grand Cane. Sharpley was not wearing a DOT approved helmet and sustained fatal injuries during the crash. White was wearing a seat belt and was not injured in the crash. Following the investigation at the scene, White was cited for failure to yield and for having illegal window tint. Impairment is not suspected, but toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. | |||
