TROOP G NEWS RELEASE March 2, 2017 Webster Parish Crash Claims the Life of a Springhill Woman Webster Parish- On Thursday, March 2, 2017, at 5:28 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to two vehicle crash on US Highway 371 just north of Cotton Valley that claimed the life of a Springhill woman. The preliminary investigation revealed a 2011 Lincoln Towncar operated by 88-year-old Shirley Hearnsberger of Springhill was traveling south on US 371 when for reasons still under investigation, she crossed the center line, and collided head-on with a north bound 2005 Toyota Tacoma operated by 50-year-old Patrick Driskill also of Springhill. Hearnsberger was not restrained at the time of the crash and sustained fatal injuries. Driskill was properly restrained at the time of the crash and sustained only minor injuries. Hearnsberger was pronounced dead at the scene by the Webster Parish Coroner. Louisiana law requires motor vehicle occupants to be properly restrained in every seating position, day and night. Wearing a seatbelt significantly reduces the likelihood of being seriously injured or killed as the result of a crash and is the single most effective thing motorists can do to protect themselves.
