| TROOP G NEWS RELEASE September 29, 2017 Rollover Crash Claims the Life of a Homer Man Webster Parish- On Friday, September 29, 2017, shortly before 1:00 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to one vehicle crash on US Highway 79 just north of Louisiana Highway 518 that claimed the life of a Homer man. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1998 Nissan Frontier operated by 56-year-old Jefferson Clay Rogers of Homer was traveling south on US 79, when for reasons still under investigation, Rogers lost control of the truck, exited the right side of the roadway, and overturned. Rogers was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected. Rogers sustained fatal injuries during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Webster Parish Coroner. Louisiana law requires motor vehicle occupants to be properly restrained in every seating position, day and night. Wearing a seatbelt significantly reduces the likelihood of being seriously injured or killed as the result of a crash and is the single most effective thing motorists can do to protect themselves.
