The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2017 XF-200 Sports Bike operated by 45-year-old Larry Dillion of Shongaloo was traveling north on Elmer Moore Road when for reasons still under investigation, he exited the right side of the roadway, and struck a wooden cross tie.

Dillion was ejected from the sports bike during the crash and was not wearing a helmet. Dillion sustained fatal injuries during the crash and was pronounced deceased by the Webster Parish Coroner.

Impairment is suspected to be a factor in this crash. Toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

Louisiana state law requires anyone who is operating or riding upon any motorcycle, motor-driven cycle, or motorized bicycle to wear a properly secured DOT approved helmet. Also, Troopers want to remind motorists of the dangers of driving impaired and how it significantly increases the chances of a being involved in a crash.

In 2016, 48% of the fatal crashes investigated by Troop G Troopers involved impaired drivers. We ask that you make the right choice by choosing not to drive after consuming alcoholic beverages. Alcohol significantly decreases your ability to perform fine motor skills such as the ones needed for driving.
