Infant Dies in Red River Parish Crash

Crossroads, LA—An infant lost her life this afternoon after the vehicle she was a passenger in traveled off the road and struck a tree.

Shortly before 2:00 p.m. on June 11, 2016, Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a single-vehicle crash on US Highway 71 just north of Louisiana Highway 514.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed 23-year-old Desmond Scarborough of Natchitoches, LA was driving a 2004 Mitsubishi Galant south on US 71. During a heavy rainfall the vehicle traveled off the road, down a steep embankment, and struck a tree.

A passenger in the vehicle, 4-month-old Miracle Scarborough of Natchitoches, LA, who was restrained at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Red River Parish Coroner’s Office.

A routine toxicology sample was obtained from the driver and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
