The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 59-year-old Gary Qualls of Jonesboro was traveling west on LA 4 when for reasons still under investigation, the Silverado crossed the centerline, exited the roadway, and struck a tree. Upon impact, the vehicle caught fire with Qualls and his passenger 56-year-old Gwan Jefferson of Jonesboro still inside.
