TROOP G NEWS RELEASE

September 5, 2016
DWI/Seat Belt Checkpoint Planned for Bienville Parish

In an effort to combat impaired driving and promote seat belt usage in our area, Louisiana State Police Troop G plans to conduct a DWI/Seat Belt checkpoint on Thursday, September 8, 2016, from approximately 9:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at an undisclosed location in Bienville Parish. Our mission will be to find and remove impaired drivers from the road and look for unrestrained motorists.

Each year, on Louisiana’s highways, numerous people are killed or seriously injured in automobile crashes that involve both impaired drivers and unrestrained motorists. In 2015, nearly 50% of the fatal crashes in Troop G involved alcohol or unrestrained motorists. Citizens are asked to designate a sober driver and buckle up. Drive sober or get pulled over.

To report impaired drivers, motorists are encouraged to dial *LSP (*577) from their cellular phone or to contact their local law enforcement agency.

Support for this checkpoint is provided by the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.
