Multi-Vehicle Crash
Claims the Life of a Shreveport Woman

Bossier Parish-On August 14, 2016, at 9:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a report of a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 220 just west of Benton Road that claimed the life of a Shreveport woman.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu operated by 31-year-old Lakeisha Williams of Shreveport was west bound on I-220 west of LA 3 in the inside lane of travel when she was struck in the rear by a 2010 Chevrolet Pickup Truck. After impact, the Chevrolet Malibu came to rest in the inside travel lane. After the crash, Williams exited her vehicle in order to inspect the damage and as she was standing in the roadway, she and her vehicle were struck by a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic operated by 26-year-old Christopher Cooper of Shreveport. The driver of the Chevrolet Pickup Truck fled the scene on foot after Williams and her vehicle were hit.

Williams sustained fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bossier Parish Coroner.

Impairment as well as the identity of the driver of the 2010 Chevrolet Pickup Truck is unknown at this time and impairment is not suspected on the part of Williams, but a toxicology sample was obtained, and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.

This crash serves as yet another reminder of how important it is to stay clear of the roadway especially at night. Troopers urge motorists to exit their vehicles and move to safety if your vehicle is disabled in the travel lanes.
