TROOP G NEWS RELEASE September 24, 2016 DeSoto Parish Crash Claims the Life of a Converse Man DeSoto Parish-On September 23, 2016 at 8:50 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a report of a two vehicle crash at the intersection of US Highway 84 and Louisiana Highway 191 that claimed the life of a Converse man. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1995 GMC Yukon driven by 76-year-old Cecil Hart of Converse was traveling north on LA 191, when for reasons still under investigation Hart failed to stop at the stop sign and entered the intersection of US 84 directly in the path of a 2014 Dodge driven by 27-year-old Michelle Garcia of Logansport. The Dodge then struck the Yukon in the driver’s side door, causing severe damage. Hart sustained life threatening injuries during the crash and was transported to University Health Shreveport where he was later pronounced dead. Garcia sustained moderate injuries during the crash and was transported to DeSoto Regional Medical Center where she was treated and later released. Impairment is not suspected in this crash, but toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. Contact Information: | |||
