TROOP G NEWS RELEASE November 21, 2016 Bienville Parish Crash Claims The Life of Unrestrained Driver Bienville Parish-On November 21, 2016, at 5:30 a.m., Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on Interstate 20, around mp#61 that claimed the life of a Bastrop man. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2004 GMC Sierra driven by 18-year-old Justice Farrar of Bastrop was traveling east on I-20 when, for reasons still under investigation, Farrar lost control of his vehicle, exited the roadway, and crashed. After Farrar’s vehicle exited the roadway, it overturned multiple times before coming to rest. Farrar was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected during the crash. Farrar sustained fatal injuries during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bienville Parish Coroner. It is unknown if impairment was a factor in this crash, but a toxicology sample was obtained from and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation. Louisiana law requires motor vehicle occupants to be properly restrained in every seating position, day and night. Wearing a seatbelt significantly reduces the likelihood of being seriously injured or killed as the result of a crash and is the single most effective thing motorists can do to protect themselves.
