TROOP F - NEWS RELEASE September 12, 2011 Child Safety Seat Event in Ruston The Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force, Community Trust Bank and Louisiana State Police are sponsoring a free child safety seat check-up event at Community Trust Bank’s Ruston Financial Center, 1511 North Trenton Street, Ruston, LA 71270, on Saturday, September 17, 2011, from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. Rain or shine, no appointment necessary! Approximately 3 out of 4 child seats are not used correctly. This misuse rate can be attributed to the great variety of child seats available, the great range of children’s weights and heights, and the vast array of vehicles in today’s market. These misuses span all races, educational levels, and socioeconomic status. This event kicks off “National Child Passenger Safety Week” (September 18-24, 2011). Parents and caregivers will be provided firsthand information by nationally certified child passenger safety technicians regarding the proper installation of their child’s safety seat. In addition, parents and caregivers will also be provided with life-saving information regarding the appropriate child safety seat for each child’s age, weight and height. Every Louisiana State Police troop location is a NHTSA-recognized child safety seat “Inspection Station”.
