Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputy Arrested |
TROOP F - NEWS RELEASE
August 25, 2011
Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputy Arrested Investigators from the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations/Monroe Field Office arrested Gene Butler (B/M 57 yrs) of Simsboro, LA, today for Malfeasance in Office and Abuse of Office.
The arrest stems from a complaint the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office received from a citizen regarding Deputy Gene Butler on or about August 19, 2011. The citizen alleged that Butler had used his position of authority to force or coerce the sale of a vehicle to him for a reduced price against the complainant's will. Once the complaint was received, the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office immediately contacted Louisiana State Police to conduct a criminal investigation of the incident.
This morning, as a result of this investigation, Louisiana State Police arrested Butler without incident. Butler was booked into the Lincoln Parish Detention Center and charged with Malfeasance in Office (one count) and Abuse of Office (one count).
The investigation remains ongoing at this time.
