TROOP F - NEWS RELEASE October 16, 2011 Driver Dies in Ouachita Parish Crash A Monroe man has died after he crashed while fleeing from Monroe Police Officers. At about 2:35 am this morning, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers investigated a one-vehicle fatal crash on LA-15 in Ouachita Parish. The investigation revealed that Monroe Police Officers began to pursue a 1996 Infinity being driven by a subject wanted for domestic violence. The driver, identified as Willie L. Ross (25 yoa from Monroe), was traveling southbound on LA 15 at a high rate of speed as he refused to stop for police officers. Ross lost control of the vehicle and ran off the right side of the road and entered a shallow ditch. The Infinity then overturned and began to flip end over end before coming to rest. Ross was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle in the crash. He was pronounced dead by the Ouachita Parish Coroner's Office. In 2010, 58 percent of all drivers killed in car crashes were not wearing their seat belts. The proper wearing of a seat belt can greatly enhance your chances of surviving a crash. In 2011, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated forty (40) fatal crashes resulting in forty-five (45) deaths.
