Unrestrained Driver Dies in Richland Parish Crash

A Rayville man was killed after he was ejected from his vehicle in a Richland Parish crash.

Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers responded to the crash last night at about 9:35 pm. The investigation revealed that a 2005 Mitsubishi Galant was traveling west on LA Hwy 622 at Burgess Rd, west of Mangham, when the car ran off the right side of the road and struck a large ditch embankment. The car then continued until it struck a fence and overturned several times.

The driver of the Mitsubishi, identified as 36-year-old James C. Arnold from Rayville, was ejected from the vehicle in the crash. Arnold was pronounced dead at the scene by the Richland Parish Coroner's Office. Arnold was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Impairment is unknown and routine toxicology tests are pending.

Louisiana State Police would like to take this opportunity to remind/inform motorists that properly wearing your seatbelt will dramatically reduce your chance of being injured or killed in a crash. We ask for you to take one second to “buckle up!”

In 2011, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated twenty-six (26) fatal crashes resulting in thirty-one (31) deaths.
