Driver Succumbs to Injuries after Two Vehicle Crash in Livingston Parish

Watson, LA Shortly after 6:00 pm on January 23, 2016, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a two vehicle crash involving serious injuries on LA 1019 west of LA 1023 in Livingston Parish. On January 27, 2016, Troopers were informed that 45 year old Kristy Badeaux of Watson, LA had succumb to injuries she sustained in the crash.

The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Badeaux was traveling eastbound on LA 1019 in a 2000 Ford Mustang. At the same time, 33 year old Timothy Tate of Denham Springs, LA was traveling westbound on LA 1019 in a 1997 Dodge Ram. For unknown reason, Badeaux’s vehicle crossed the center line into the westbound lane and struck Tate’s vehicle head-on. Badeaux was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected from her vehicle.

Badeaux was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital with serious injuries. Badeaux later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased by doctors at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. Tate was properly restrained and was not injured in the crash. Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in this crash but toxicology samples were taken from both drivers for analysis.

Louisiana State Troopers wish to remind motorists that all occupants of a motor vehicle must be restrained, regardless of seating position. While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that the chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained. Making good choices while in motor vehicles such as never driving while impaired, always ensuring every occupant is properly restrained, and avoiding all distractions can often mean the difference between life and death.
