TROOP F - NEWS RELEASE December 13, 2011 Unrestrained Driver Dies in Ouachita Parish Crash A West Monroe man has died after being ejected from his vehicle in a Ouachita Parish crash. Louisiana State Police Troopers responded to the crash location on LA 143, just south of the Union Parish line, after the crash was discovered at about 7:00 am this morning. Troopers believe the crash occurred sometime overnight, but wasn't discovered until after day break. The investigation revealed that a 2004 Jaguar car was traveling north on LA 143 when it ran off the right side of the roadway. The Jaguar then jumped a private drive before overturning and coming to rest. The driver, identified as 20-year-old Kevin Schenck Jr. from West Monroe, was not wearing his seat belt and was totally ejected from the vehicle in the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner's Office. Impairment is unknown and routine toxicology tests are pending. While not all crashes are survivable, the proper wearing of a seat belt is the best way to reduce injuries and fatalities in car crashes. In 2011, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated forty-seven (47) fatal crashes resulting in fifty-four (54) deaths.
