News Release December 24, 2010 Passenger Dies in Ouachita Parish Crash
A Monroe woman has died in a two-vehicle crash in western Ouachita Parish.
The crash occurred on December 23, 2010 at about 6:30 pm. Troop F Troopers investigated the crash and learned that a 2002 Toyota Highlander was traveling north on LA 15 and was attempting to make a left turn into a private drive at 455 Cheniere Drew Rd (LA 15). The Toyota turned into the path of a southbound 2000 Chevrolet Silverado. The driver of the Chevrolet was unable to avoid the crash and struck the passenger side of the Toyota.
The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as Daniel Adams (61 yoa from Monroe), was not injured in the crash.
The driver of the Toyota, identified as Mohammed Khalid (41 yoa from Rockwall, TX) sustained minor injuries in the crash. He was transported to St Francis Hospital for treatment.
In addition to the driver, there were six passengers in the Toyota. One of the passengers, identified as Talat Iqbal (59 year old female from Monroe), was transported to Glenwood Hospital, but later died from her injuries. The remaining passengers, ranging in age from 4 years old to 72 years old, were transported to Glenwood for minor injuries.
Mohammed Khalid was issued a citation for failure to yield while turning left. None of the passengers in the Toyota were properly restrained.
Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
In 2010, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated forty-two (42) fatal crashes resulting in forty-five (45) deaths.
