News Release February 11, 2011 Unrestrained Driver Dies in Union Parish Crash
A Downsville woman has died in a one-vehicle crash in Union Parish.
Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers responded to the crash on February 10, 2011 at about 7:15 pm. The investigation revealed that a 2007 Chevrolet truck was traveling north on LA-15 in Union Parish, near the Ouachita Parish line, when it ran off the right side of the road and struck a large tree. The truck then continued for a short distance before coming to rest in a ditch.
The driver, identified as 52-year-old Karen Cox from Downsville, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Union Parish Coroner's Office. Cox was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash. Impairment is not suspected, but routine toxicology tests are pending.
