News Release November 23, 2010 Unrestrained Child Dies in West Carroll Parish Crash
A 10-year-old child has died in a one vehicle crash in West Carroll Parish.
Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers responded to the crash on North Old Kilbourne Rd (about 2 miles north of Oak Grove) this morning at about 6:37 am. The investigation revealed that a 2002 Buick Century was traveling north on the parish road when the driver ran off the right side of the roadway. The driver then over-corrected and slid back across the paved surface to leave the left side of the roadway. The car then struck a large tree in the area of the front passenger door.
The driver, identified as 34-year-old Chasity McGaha from Oak Grove, received moderate injuries in the crash and was transported by ambulance to St Francis Medical Center for treatment. McGaha was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash.
The driver's 10-year-old daughter, Zoe Ann McGaha, was riding in the front seat of the car at the time of the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the West Carroll Parish Coroner's Office. Zoe was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Chasity McGaha has been cited for careless operation, no seat belt, and for failure to restrain a child.
In 2010, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated thirty-six (36) fatal crashes resulting in thirty-eight (38) deaths.
