Two Vehicle Fatal Crash in Union Parish |

News Release December 8, 2010 Two Vehicle Fatal Crash in Union Parish
An Arkansas man has died in a two vehicle crash in Union Parish.
At approximately 8:46 am this morning, Troop F Troopers responded to the crash on LA 15 approximately ten miles north of Farmerville. The investigation revealed that a 1994 Ford truck was traveling east on LA 550 when the driver failed to yield at a stop sign and pulled into the path of a north bound 1983 Chevrolet Malibu. The Chevrolet struck the Ford on its passenger side.
The driver of the Ford, identified as Joseph Bridges (25 yoa from Spearsville), was taken to Union General Hospital with minor injuries. Bridges was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as Derrick Grimes (35 yoa from Junction City, AR) received serious injuries in the crash and was transported to Union General Hospital. Grimes was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
A passenger in the Chevrolet, identified as Robert Evans (50 yoa from Junction City, AR) was pronounced dead at the scene by the Union Parish Coroner's Office. Evans was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Joseph Bridges was issued a citation for failure to yield from a stop sign, driving under suspension, and no proof of insurance.
Derrick Grimes was issued a citation for not wearing a seat belt and driving under suspension.
While impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, routine toxicology tests are pending.
In 2010, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated thirty-eight (38) fatal crashes resulting in forty (40) deaths.
