**Update**News Release June 21, 2011 Investigators Make Arrest in Tallulah Homicides
A joint investigation between Louisiana State Police Detectives, the Madison Parish Sheriff's Department, the Tallulah Police Department, the 6th District Attorney's Office and the East Carroll Parish Sheriff's Office has led to the arrest of a suspect in the murder of two Tallulah women. Walter Walker, 27-years-old from Lake Providence, has been arrested and booked for two counts of Second Degree Murder at the Madison Parish Jail.

Louisiana State Police Detectives have released the names of the two homicide victims in Tallulah. The victims have been identified as Nikesha R. Washington (18 yoa from Tallulah) and Jasmine Smith (approximately 18 yoa from Tallulah).
The investigation is on-going at this time.

On June 17, 2011, at about 8:30 pm, the Tallulah Police Department, the Madison Sheriff's Department, the 6th District Attorney's Office, and Louisiana State Police Detectives responded to a body found in a wooded area inside the city limits of Tallulah. On the morning of June 18, 2011, detectives and officers from the same agencies responded to another body found at Tallulah City Park.
Both victims are black females and homicide appears to be the cause of death in both cases. The victim's names are being withheld pending family notification. Both victims have been sent for autopsies.
