News Release May 19, 2011 Tallulah Woman Dies after Being Ejected from Vehicle
A Tallulah woman has died after being ejected from her vehicle in a Madison Parish crash.
Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers responded to the crash today at about 4:30 pm. The investigation revealed that a 2009 Toyota Yaris was traveling east on US 80 at mile post 188.8 when, for unknown reasons, the car ran off the right side of the roadway. The driver then over-corrected back to the left and ran off the left side of the highway. The car then rolled over and ejected the unrestrained driver.
The driver, identified as 40-year-old Margaret Saunier-Smith from Tallulah, was transported to the Madison Parish Hospital. She died a short time later at the hospital.
Impairment is not suspected, but routine toxicology tests are pending.
In 2011, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated thirteen (13) fatal crashes resulting in fourteen (14) deaths.
