News Release May 3, 2011 Unrestrained Driver Dies in Union Parish Crash
A woman has died in a single vehicle crash in Union Parish.
The crash occurred on May 2, 2011 at about 5:00 pm. Troop F Troopers investigated the crash and determined that a 2006 Kia Sportage was traveling north on LA 143, between Haile and Linville, when it ran off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle traveled for about 300 feet before the driver over-corrected, crossed the center-line, and ran off the left side of the highway. The Kia then struck a ditch embankment and overturned.
The driver, identified as 44-year-old Pamela Young from Marion, was transported to St Francis Hospital (North) by ambulance. She was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later. Young was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Impairment is unknown and toxicology tests are pending.
In 2011, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated eleven (11) fatal crashes resulting in twelve (12) deaths.
