| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release February 23, 2011 4:20 pm Sobriety Checkpoint Scheduled for Friday Night To combat impaired driving in our area, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers will team up with the Monroe and West Monroe Police Departments to conduct a sobriety checkpoint this weekend. On Friday, February 25, 2011, a sobriety checkpoint will be conducted in the West Monroe city limits from approximately 9:00 pm to 3:00 am. Checkpoints are designed to remove impaired drivers from the roads before they can injure themselves or others, but to also act as a deterrent to impaired driving. If people recognize the increased probability of checkpoints, they are less likely to drive impaired. There are no excuses for impaired driving and those who choose to endanger themselves or others will be arrested. If you see a suspected drunk driver, contact your local police or sheriff’s department, or call the Louisiana State Police hotline: *LSP (*577) Officers will also monitor drivers and passengers for seat belt use. Anyone caught not wearing a seat belt or properly restraining children will be ticketed.
