LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE
Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent
News Release March 21, 2011 Child Safety Seat Check Scheduled
The Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force, Target, the Monroe Fire Department, and the Louisiana State Police are sponsoring a free child safety seat check-up event at the Monroe Target store (off I-20 and Millhaven Rd), on Saturday, March 26th, from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.
Roughly 3 out of 4 child seats are not used correctly. This misuse rate can be attributed to the great variety of child seats available, the great range of children’s weights and heights, and the array of vehicles in today’s market. These misuses span all races, educational levels, and socioeconomic status.
Caregivers will be provided with first hand information by a nationally certified child passenger safety technician regarding the proper installation of their child’s safety seat. In addition, caregivers will also be provided with life-saving information as to what child safety seat should be utilized with the appropriate age, weight, and height limits.
There will also be information on bicycle, vehicle, and fire safety from the various departments on-hand.
This invaluable service would not be possible without the generation donations from Target, Coca-Cola, Chick-fil-A, Pepperidge Farm, and Fox's Pizza.
