News Release May 1, 2011 Fatal Crash on Morehouse Parish Road
A Bastrop man has died in a two-vehicle crash on Bobby Rd, just south of the Arkansas line, in northern Morehouse Parish.
Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers responded to the crash today at about 1:09 pm. The investigation revealed that a 1996 Ford truck was traveling south on Bobby Rd behind another unknown vehicle. A 2005 Chevrolet truck was traveling north on Bobby Rd approaching the two vehicles. After the Chevrolet met and passed the unknown vehicle, the Chevrolet moved towards the center of the road and struck the Ford truck in a head-on manner.
Physical evidence at the scene showed that both of the vehicles were traveling near the center of the roadway at the point of impact. Troopers believe that dust from the first, unknown, vehicle obscured the vision of both drivers.
The driver of the Ford truck, identified as 29-year-old Brad H. Cole from Bastrop, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Morehouse Parish Coroner's Office. Cole did not have his seat belt on at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 26-year-old Jacob R. Bolin from Bastrop, received moderate injuries in the crash and was transported to Morehouse General Hospital for treatment. Bolin was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
Impairment is unknown and toxicology tests are pending.
In 2011, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers have investigated ten (10) fatal crashes resulting in eleven (11) deaths.
