| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release March 15, 2012 Unrestrained Driver Killed in Lincoln Parish Crash Louisiana State Police investigated a single vehicle crash in Lincoln Parish that left one woman dead and another seriously injured. At approximately 6:20 pm yesterday, troopers investigated a single vehicle crash involving a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am that was traveling east on I-20 at milepost 75.9 when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The car ran off the left side of the road, rotated counter-clockwise as it entered the median and overturned several times before it came to rest. The driver, identified as 21-year-old Kayesha Walker from Arcadia, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene by the Lincoln Parish Coroner’s Office. Her passenger, 20-year-old Sherrita Jones from Arcadia, was also ejected from the vehicle during the crash and was air-lifted to LSU-Shreveport with serious injuries. Neither occupant was restrained. While impairment is not suspected, routine toxicology tests are pending. Troop F has investigated two fatal crashes which have resulted in two deaths so far this year. Both fatal crash victims were ejected from their vehicles. While not all crashes are survivable, chances of survival are increased and severity of injuries can be decreased by the proper usage of a seat belt or age/weight appropriate child restraint.
