News Release - Troop F March 6, 2013 Mock Crash To Be Held For Ruston High Students Multiple first responder agencies and Ruston High School Student Council members will participate in a mock fatal crash to demonstrate the dangers of impaired driving and lack of seatbelt usage to the junior and senior classes. On Friday, March 8, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ruston High School front parking lot (off Bearcat drive), multiple agencies will converge with students to demonstrate the possible fatal consequences of impaired driving and the dangers of not using seat belts. Students involved will act out a fatal crash scene scenario in front of their peers, allowing the students to see first-hand how drinking and driving affects everyone involved. Numerous state and local agencies such as Louisiana State Police; Ruston Fire Department; Lincoln Parish Sheriff's Office; Ruston Ambulance Service; Pafford Air One; American Towing; Owens Funeral Home; Lincoln Parish Coroner's Office and the North Central Alliance Partners in Prevention Community Coalition will participate in the scenario. Personnel from each agency will be available to answer all of the students' questions at the conclusion of the event. This education by participating agencies is an effort to reduce the number of underage DWI's as well as serious injury crashes and fatal crashes, particularly during Prom season. Programs such as mock crashes teach youth the importance of making sound decisions throughout the course of their lives. ** All media outlets are invited to attend this event. ** Contact Information: Trooper Albert Paxton Louisiana State Police Public Affairs Section Office: (318) 345-2810 albert.paxton@dps.la.gov | |||
