Morehouse Sheriff’s Deputy Arrested on Fraud and Theft Charges

On March 4, 2013, investigators with the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations arrested 39-year-old Quinton Mewborn on one count of theft and one count of conspiracy.

On January 15, 2013, Morehouse Parish Sheriff Mike Tubbs requested the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations look into a complaint he received about unaccounted for funds raised by Little Angels of Northeast Louisiana. The organization was founded in 2012 by Quinton and Stacey Mewborn and was to assist families of children diagnosed with Ehlers Dandles Syndrome and OI disease. At the time, Quinton Mewborn was employed as a Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputy. Quinton Mewborn resigned from the Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office on Saturday and was arrested this morning.

Mewborn was booked into the Morehouse Parish Detention Center. If convicted on all charges Mewborn faces up to a $6,000 fine and up to 20 years in prison. The investigation is ongoing.

Stacey Mewborn, 37 years of age, is currently hospitalized but will be arrested upon release.
