News Release-Troop F February 20, 2013 Fatal Crash In Lincoln Parish On February 19, 2013, at 6:33 p.m., Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a two vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 33 at Louisiana Highway 821. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2013 Mercedes 350, driven by 80-year-old Melba Jones of Choudrant, was traveling west on Louisiana Highway 821 when it pulled out into the path of a 2004 Ford Van, driven by 38-year-old Lashonda Stringfellow of Farmerville, that was traveling north on Louisiana Highway 33. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lincoln Parish Coroner’s Office. Stringfellow was taken to a hospital in Shreveport with moderate injuries. Alcohol use is not suspected. Toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The investigation is ongoing. Inattentive and distracted driving are leading causes of crashes in our state. Motorists should always pay close attention to other traffic and drive with care.
