Rayville Doctor Arrested For Drug Possession And Resisting

On February 6, 2013, investigators with the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations and the Richland Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested 60-year-old Dr. Dan LaFleur of Delhi on 5 counts of possession of schedule III controlled dangerous substance, 2 counts of possession of schedule IV controlled dangerous substance and resisting a police officer.

The arrest was made while the investigators were executing a search warrant in reference to a prescription fraud investigation. The search was being conducted at LaFleur’s residence when the investigators discovered the schedule III and schedule IV narcotics. LaFleur attempted to conceal some of the narcotics from the investigators and then LaFleur actively resisted their attempts to recover the drugs.

LeFleur was booked into the Richland Parish Detention Center. If convicted on all charges LaFleur faces up to a $37,000 fine and up to 37 years in prison. The investigation is ongoing.
