Unrestrained Driver Killed In Ouachita Parish

On February 17, 2013, at 12:20 a.m., Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 136 east of US Highway 165.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1996 Dodge Ram, driven by 38-year-old Kevin Little of Monroe, was traveling east on Louisiana Highway 136 when it ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected and traveled back onto the road crossing both lanes of travel. The Dodge then ran off the left side of the road where it overturned.

Little was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the Dodge. Little was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office.

Alcohol use is unknown. A toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis.

The majority of fatal and serious injury crashes involve occupants who are not wearing seatbelts. State Law requires seatbelts to be used at every seating position in the vehicle. Troopers would like to remind motorists of the importance of being properly restrained at all times.

Troop F has investigated 6 fatal crashes which have resulted in 8 deaths so far this year.
