TROOP F NEWS RELEASE May 31, 2013 Serious Injury Crash In Ouachita Parish On May 31, 2013, at 8:49 a.m., Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single vehicle serious injury crash on Interstate 20 about 10 miles west of West Monroe. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle, driven by 48-year-old Robert Hudson of Greenville, MS, was traveling west on Interstate 20 when the motorcycle lost control and traveled into the median. Hudson was ejected from the motorcycle and suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash. Hudson was transported to a hospital in Shreveport. Troopers have been unable to determine at this time if Hudson was wearing a DOTD approved helmet. Alcohol use is not suspected. A toxicology sample was taken and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. May is motorcycle awareness month. Motorcycle awareness license plates are available through the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles. Funds generated from the purchase of the plates will be used by the Motorcycle Awareness Campaign to increase awareness and promote/support training and education efforts for motorcyclists.
