The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1993 Honda Gold Wing motorcycle, driven by 67-year-old Bobby Davis of Delhi, was traveling west on Louisiana Highway 134 when it struck a deer that was crossing the road. The Honda then drove off the right side of the road and into a drainage ditch. Bobby Davis was wearing a DOT approved helmet and suffered fatal injuries. Bobby Davis was pronounced dead on scene by the Richland Parish Coroner’s office. The passenger, 66-year-old Mary Davis of Delhi, was wearing a DOT approved helmet and was transported to Richardson Medical Center with moderate injuries. Alcohol use is not suspected. A toxicology sample was taken and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Motorcycle awareness license plates are available through the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles. Funds generated from the purchase of the plates will be used by the Motorcycle Awareness Campaign to increase awareness and promote/support training and education efforts for motorcyclists. Troop F has investigated 30 fatal crashes which have resulted in 33 deaths so far this year.
