TROOP F NEWS RELEASE June 23, 2013 Head On Collision Causes Fatal Crash in Morehouse Parish On June 22, 2013, at 9:50 p.m., Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a two vehicle fatal crash on Louisiana Highway 2 east of Mer Rouge that claimed the life of a Transylvania woman. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2003 Chevrolet truck, driven by 44-year-old Torre Huber of McComb, MS, was traveling west on Louisiana Highway 2 when it crossed over into the eastbound lane and struck a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by 66-year-old Tommie Waller of Transylvania, that was traveling east on Louisiana Highway 2. Waller suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Morehouse Parish Coroner’s office. The passenger in the Tahoe, 54-year-old Vicki Wilson of New Waverly, TX, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Morehouse General. Huber suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Morehouse General. Alcohol is not suspected on the part of Waller. Alcohol use is suspected on the part of Huber. Toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. Huber was charged with vehicular homicide, vehicular negligent injuring, driving left of center, driving with a suspended license, switched license plate, operating an uninsured vehicle and open container. Huber was not booked into jail due to his injuries. Many people are seriously injured or killed each year due to impaired driving. It is important to never get behind the wheel if you are impaired or get in a vehicle with a driver who is impaired. This decision can prevent injury or death to yourself or others. Troop F has investigated 24 fatal crashes which have resulted in 26 deaths so far this year.
