TROOP F - NEWS RELEASE December 18, 2012 Fatal crash in Ouachita Parish On December 18, 2012, at 4:25 p.m., troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a two vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 34 south of Interstate 20 that claimed the life of a West Monroe man. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2009 Harley-Davidson driven by 44-year-old James McKeithen of West Monroe, was traveling south on Louisiana Highway 34 when a 2006 Chevrolet flatbed truck, driven by 23-year-old Alan Hall of West Monroe, turned into the path of the Harley-Davidson by making a left turn onto Louisiana Highway 34 north. The Harley-Davidson struck the Chevrolet, ejecting McKeithen from the Harley-Davidson. McKeithen suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner’s Office. McKeithen was wearing a helmet. Hall was wearing a seat belt and did not report any injuries from the crash. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. Toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted for analysis. Hall was cited with failure to yield. The crash remains under investigation. Motorcycle awareness license plates are available through the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles. Please visit their website at www.expresslane.org for more information. Funds generated from the purchase of the plates will be used by the Motorcycle Awareness Campaign to increase awareness and promote/support training and education efforts for motorcyclists.
