TROOP F - NEWS RELEASE May 23, 2012 Man Dies after Crashing ATV in Union Parish On May 22, 2012, at about 8:40 p.m., troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single vehicle crash involving an ATV in Union Parish that claimed the life of a Farmerville man. The preliminary investigation revealed that an ATV was traveling south on Burch Road south of LA 348 when for unknown reasons the ATV left the roadway, ran off the road, and struck a tree. The sole occupant, 37-year-old Alphonso D. Henderson of Farmerville, was thrown from the ATV upon impact. Henderson sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he later died. Troopers do not believe Henderson was wearing a helmet. A routine toxicology sample was obtained from Henderson and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. The Louisiana State Police would like to encourage everyone that rides an ATV to always wear proper safety equipment, travel at safe speeds, and only ride on designated trails. It is dangerous and illegal to operate off road vehicles (i.e. three wheelers, four wheelers, and other all terrain vehicles) on any public roadways in this state.
