News Release – Troop F May 29, 2012 DWI checkpoint in Ouachita Parish In an effort to combat impaired driving in our area, Louisiana State Police Troop F with the assistance of the Monroe Police Department, West Monroe Police Department and the ULM Police Department, plans to conduct a DWI checkpoint on Thursday, May 31, 2012, from approximately 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. at an undisclosed location in Ouachita Parish. Our mission will be to find and remove impaired drivers from the road before they can cause injury or death to themselves or others. In 2010, 43% of fatal crashes in Louisiana involved alcohol. Motorists are asked to designate a sober driver before heading to any location where alcohol may be consumed. Troopers arrested more than 650 impaired drivers in the Troop F area last year. Drive sober or get pulled over. To report impaired drivers, motorists are encouraged to dial *LSP (*577) from their cellular phone or to contact their local law enforcement agency.
