TROOP F - NEWS RELEASE July 19, 2012 Fatal crash in Caldwell Parish On July 18, 2012, shortly after 7:30 p.m., troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 850 at Twin Lakes Road that claimed the life of a Grayson man. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1995 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 47-year-old Richard Word of Grayson, Louisiana was traveling west on Louisiana Highway 850 when it left the roadway. Word was unrestrained and ejected from the vehicle. Word suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Caldwell Parish Coroner’s office. A toxicology sample was obtained from the driver and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation. While not all crashes are survivable, the proper wearing of a seat belt is the best way to reduce injuries and fatalities in car crashes.
