| LOUISIANA STATE POLICE COURTESY LOYALTY SERVICE Colonel Michael D. Edmonson, Superintendent News Release May 5, 2012 Gretna Man Seriously Injured in Ouachita Parish Crash Last night Louisiana State Police investigated a single-vehicle crash in Ouachita Parish that seriously injured the driver. At approximately 8:32 pm on Friday night, Louisiana State Police Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on LA Hwy 139 milepost 6.6 in Ouachita Parish. A 2012 Mazda MZ6, driven by 27 year-old Brandon Clark of Gretna, was traveling north on LA Hwy139, in a curve, when it ran off the right side of the road, struck a culvert and vaulted into a power pole. The vehicle traveled another 51 feet before it came to rest off the roadway. Brandon Clark was not wearing a seatbelt and was airlifted to LSU-Shreveport with serious injuries. A passenger, 50 year-old Terri Kerry of Monroe, was transported to St. Francis Hospital with moderate injuries. She was wearing her seatbelt. Impairment is suspected to be a factor in this crash and routine toxicology tests are pending. The consequences of drinking and driving can be costly no matter how many drinks have been consumed. Driving while impaired and lack of seat belt use continues to be contributing factors in a large majority of fatal and serious injury crashes across the nation. By taking precautionary steps including never driving while distracted or impaired and always wearing a seatbelt, motorists can substantially reduce their risk of being involved and/or injured in a crash.
