Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Ouachita Parish

On November 17, 2012, at 1:34 p.m., Troopers assigned to Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a two vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 616 west of Louisiana Highway 617 that claimed the life of a West Monroe woman.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2012 Tao motorcycle, driven by 55-year-old Connie C. Henery of West Monroe, was traveling north on Dean Chapel Road when Henery made a right turn onto Louisiana Highway 616 and lost control of the motorcycle. Henery then crossed the center line and was struck head on by a 2005 GMC Envoy that was traveling west on Louisiana Highway 616, driven by 17-year-old Christopher A. Dean of West Monroe. Henery was ejected from the motorcycle.

Henery was transported to Glenwood Regional Medical Center where she died. Henery was wearing a U.S. Department of Transportation approved helmet. Dean was properly restrained and did not report any injuries.

Impairment is not suspected. A toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.

While the exact cause of this crash is unknown, Troopers would like to remind drivers that inattentive and distracted driving are leading causes of crashes in our state. Motorists should always pay close attention to other traffic and drive care. More information on distracted driving may be found online at www.distraction.gov
