Unrestrained Driver Seriously Injured in Ouachita Parish Crash

On November 20, 2008 at about 11:48 am, Louisiana State Police Troop F Troopers investigated a one vehicle crash which resulted in serious injury to the driver. The crash occurred on US Hwy 165 at milepost 168 in Ouachita Parish. A 2002 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling south when, for unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the vehicle and ran off the right side of the roadway. The truck then struck a ditch embankment and rolled over. The driver, identified as 37 year old James Morrison from Pineville, LA, was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle in the crash. Morrison was transported to St. Francis hospital with serious injuries.

Alcohol use is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, but routine toxicology tests are pending. Morrison was issued a citation for Careless Operation.

The Louisiana State Police would like to remind motorists to buckle-up. Last year in Louisiana alone, sixty-five percent of the people killed in car crashes were not properly restrained. Troopers are doing their part by enforcing the state’s seat belt and child restraint laws. The public needs to do their part by wearing their seat belts and properly restraining children.
